The National University of Kaohsiung (NUK) continues to advance its New Southbound higher education strategy. From December 29 to 31, 2025, President Chen Chi-Jen led a delegation—including Vice President Wu Hsing-Hao, Dean of International Affairs Lin Hsing-Ju, Division Director Pei Kuang-Hsiung, and Program Officer Pei Shih Lan-Hung—to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. The delegation visited several key Vietnamese universities and signed Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs), focusing on talent cultivation in law and management, architecture and civil engineering, and creative design, as well as strengthening industry–academia collaboration and practice-oriented education.

During the visit, the NUK delegation met with Gia Dinh University, Can Tho University, Ho Chi Minh City University of Law, and Ho Chi Minh City University of Architecture.

In the fields of law and management, NUK and Ho Chi Minh City University of Law reached several milestone agreements, including faculty and student exchanges, co-development of Taiwan–Vietnam legal and management curricula, student exchange programs, overseas teaching initiatives, and collaborative research on commercial law. These efforts aim to cultivate professionals equipped with knowledge of regional regulations, industry environments, and cross-border governance.

In architecture and creative design, NUK partnered with Ho Chi Minh City University of Architecture to promote dual-degree master’s programs and industry–academia collaborative projects. By integrating the strengths of both institutions in architecture, construction, and creative design, the collaboration seeks to enhance students’ practical skills and global competitiveness, preparing internationally oriented professionals with cross-cultural perspectives and industry readiness.

Additionally, with the facilitation of Chairman Hsien Wen-Chu of the Yong Yuan Education Development Foundation in Vietnam, NUK signed cooperation agreements with Gia Dinh University and Can Tho University. These partnerships focus on interdisciplinary talent development, academic research, and industry–academia collaboration. Through institutionalized exchanges and applied research, the initiative aims to address regional industrial and societal needs while expanding NUK’s academic influence across Southeast Asia.

President Chen Chi-Jen noted that the visit not only strengthened partnerships with sister universities in Vietnam but also demonstrated NUK’s strategic approach to international higher education—centering on specialized talent development integrated with industry–academia linkages. Looking ahead, NUK will continue to deepen its New Southbound engagement and expand international collaboration in key areas such as law, management, and architecture, opening new avenues for Taiwan–Vietnam higher education exchange and cooperation.
