As Taiwan’s university application season enters a critical stage, the National University of Kaohsiung (NUK) held its 2026 Open House – “Open Your Academic Pathway Map” event on March 14 to help high school students gain a deeper understanding of university life and academic programs. Organized by NUK’s Office of Academic Affairs, the event invited high school students and parents to visit campus through department introductions, course experiences, and campus tours designed to provide firsthand insight into different academic disciplines and university life.

NUK President Chen Chi-Jen stated that university education is not only about acquiring professional knowledge, but also about helping students explore their interests and develop their abilities. By opening the campus to prospective students, the university hopes to provide a clearer picture of higher education and help students make informed decisions that align with their interests and future goals.

President Chen also highlighted NUK’s strategic location within southern Taiwan’s semiconductor “S Corridor,” where the university has actively promoted interdisciplinary learning and diversified curriculum design in recent years. NUK has established partnerships with major companies such as TSMC, ASE Technology Holding, Universal Scientific Industrial Co., Ltd., and Zhen Ding Technology Holding Limited to develop semiconductor-related academic programs. Through hands-on learning opportunities and industry collaboration, the university is advancing its “from classroom to production line” talent development model, enabling students to gain practical industry experience during their studies and strengthening connections with southern Taiwan’s growing technology sector.

Dean of Academic Affairs Chang Chih-Hung explained that the Open House event was designed to offer high school students a direct opportunity to explore university learning environments. Through interactions with faculty members and current students, participants could gain clearer insights into academic content and future career pathways before making application decisions.

The event featured a variety of interactive activities, including Department and Student Club Experience Booths, Specialized Course Demonstrations, University Exploration Talks, and Campus Discovery Tours. Students were able to visit interactive booths, participate in classroom experiences, and hear current university students share their academic journeys. Faculty members also provided guidance on university applications, including tips for preparing application materials and interviews.

The campus was filled with energy throughout the day as students and parents explored exhibition areas, classrooms, and campus facilities. Many participants noted that engaging directly with faculty and students provided a much clearer understanding of academic programs and future opportunities than simply reading admissions brochures, helping them better envision their future educational paths.
