Performance highlights of the year:
Environment |
1. Campus Greening and Ecological Restoration The first university in Taiwan to sign the “Talloires Declaration” is committed to building a green campus. Through environmental restoration, 51.6% of the campus is covered by woods and vegetation. The campus is equipped with an ecological pond, East Lake, eco-canal, and water-friendly spaces, and incorporates public art to create a friendly learning and living environment. The campus has also formed an eco-guard volunteer team to carry out ecological monitoring, interpretation, and butterfly restoration programs. There are 145 species of arborvitae and about 9,000 trees. The total number of bird species is 36 families and 68 species, and we cooperate with the Kaohsiung City Wild Bird Society to monitor the conservation of orioles. |
2. The UI GreenMetric ranking of 2024 jumped from 285th to 278th out of a total of 1,477 universities in 84 countries, ranked in the top 1/5 universities in the world. |
3. In 2023 Ministry of Education subsidized public and private school campus green hedge project for tertiary institutions at all levels. |
4. Zero Emission Vehicle (ZEV) strategy, with motorcycle control on campus and 10 YouBike stations to encourage students and faculty to use bicycles for commuting. |
5. Every new school building from 2012 onwards has been awarded the green building label. There are 4 green buildings on campus. |
6. Tender lease for the installation of solar power system on the roof of the whole school building, totaling 2,142.920kwp, continues to increase. |

Society and Education |
1. Organize the 2024 Sprout Project Achievement Exhibition and Forum: Promoting Interdisciplinary Innovation and Sustainable Education. |
2. 90.66% school enrollment stability rate in the 113th school year, maintaining over 90%. |
3. 163 students enrolled in the 2024 school year for local and disadvantaged students. 2. 125 students enrolled in the 2024 Top Five Support Act for Economically Disadvantaged Students. |
4. 2024 Economically Disadvantaged Students Top Five Support Act, incentive grants for 125 students, totaling $2.049 million. |
5. In 2024, a total of 16 social participation courses were offered, with 618 students enrolled in the courses. |

8.In 2024, the National Education Roots Program worked with high school teachers to offer 32 courses, with a total of 836 high school students participating. |
9.There are 7 new memorandums of understanding (MOUs) signed with industry, and the total amount of industry-academia cooperation projects reaches more than NT$120 million. There are 17 research projects or industry-academia cooperation projects related to green technology, with a total amount of more than $18 million. |
10. Encourage teachers to form growth communities for the purpose of teaching innovation, cross-disciplinary teaching, or research. 19 communities were organized in 2024, with a total of 33 public activities. |
11.The proportion of daytime undergraduate students who have completed cross-disciplinary courses (including cross-disciplinary studies and cross-disciplinary teaching in professional programs) exceeded 70%. |
Governance |
1. Passed "the third cycle of the university affairs evaluation in the second half of 2023” in July 2024. |
2. In August 2024, the President presided over the Campus Consensus, where the first-level administrators gathered the centripetal force of the administration and the academic units to promote the development of a sustainable campus. |
3. Times Higher Education (THE) 2024 University Impact Ranking:The University is ranked within the top 400 in the categories of “SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation), SDG 7 (Affordable Clean Energy), SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), SDG 15 (Conservation of Terrestrial Ecology) and SDG 16 (Peace, Justice and Good Governance) |

Student awards |
1. A student team from the Department of Architecture participated in the 14th VDWC World Cup of Virtual Architecture Design 2024and won the first runner-up prize and the Special Jury Prize. |
2. Mr. Shi Hong-Qiang, a senior student of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, was awarded the President's Award for Education. |
3. Mr. He Chi-Wei and Mr. Huang Rui-Yu of the Department of Athletic Performance, specializing in badminton, won the Men's Doubles Championship in the “2024 LI-LING Vietnam International Series”. |
4. Ms. Tian Xiaowen and Ms. Lin Ziyu, Master students of the Department of Kinesiology, Health, and Leisure Studies, won the silver medal in the WD20 women's doubles pool at the Paris 2024 Games. |
5. The woodball team won first, third, second, fifth, sixth, and eighth runner-up in the Individual Stroke Play, Youth Male Division of the 2024 National Ming-Hui Cup Woodball Championships. |
6. The soccer team won the champion of the Open Men's Level 2 of the “112th Academic Year Tertiary Soccer League” and was promoted to the Open Men's Level 1 Challenge Group. The team was awarded with special prizes such as the Team Fair Competition Prize, the Golden Boot Prize ( Huang Chao-zhong), the Silver Boot Prize (Li Jun-qi) and the Golden Glove Prize (Liu Zhi-yu). |
