National University of Kaohsiung leverages the advantages of the Southern Taiwan Semiconductor S-Corridor, Kaohsiung’s industrial transformation, and regional innovation. By integrating industry needs, faculty research, curriculum design, corporate internships, and startup incubation, NUK is upgrading traditional industry-academia collaboration into an industry talent supply chain. This enables students to connect with real-world industry settings during their studies and positions university research as an important support for local industrial upgrading and sustainable transformation.
Through corporate partnerships, industry-academia linkages, internship matching, green technology research and development, semiconductor talent cultivation, and startup support, NUK responds to the needs of industrial upgrading and sustainable transformation in southern Taiwan.
NUK’s industry-government-academia collaboration is centered on the pathway of industry needs, curriculum design, practice-based learning, internship matching, and employment transition. Through industry-defined problems, industry expert instruction, corporate visits, internship matching, competency pre- and post-assessments, and outcome feedback, collaboration is no longer limited to project implementation. Instead, it is transformed into student competency development and local industrial upgrading.

NUK is actively upgrading from traditional industry-academia collaboration to an industry talent supply chain model. By integrating corporate needs, curriculum design, and internship mechanisms, the University creates evidence-based learning fields where students learn by doing and do by learning.
Centered on the needs of semiconductors, smart manufacturing, ESG, and green transformation in southern Taiwan, NUK uses corporate collaboration platforms and curriculum design to help students build practical industry competencies while still in school.
Through internship briefings, internship experience sharing, corporate matching, and career activities, NUK helps students gradually connect classroom learning with corporate practice and the employment market.
NUK advances green transition and digital transformation as dual development axes, connecting with local industrial transformation needs and supporting emerging technology development and sustainability applications.
In 2025, NUK carried out 26 green technology research projects or industry-academia collaboration cases, totaling more than NT$34 million and supporting corporate low-carbon transition and sustainable technology implementation.
Through digital transformation lectures, workshops, and industry-academia matching, NUK supports industries in adopting AI, data analytics, smart management, and innovative applications.
In response to the Southern Taiwan Semiconductor S-Corridor, NUK promotes corporate semiconductor programs, practical courses, industry expert co-teaching, and internship mechanisms to support regional industry talent needs.
NUK encourages faculty members to bring research outcomes into industrial applications through technology transfer, commissioned research, and collaborative development, enhancing the social and economic value of academic research.
Through the incubation center, innovation and entrepreneurship competitions, entrepreneurship consultation, and student team mentoring, NUK helps creative ideas move toward entrepreneurial practice and industrial application.
Through net-zero emissions, carbon management, corporate ESG practice, and career exploration, NUK develops a talent model in which graduates are equipped with ESG competencies upon graduation.
NUK subsidizes multiple departments to carry out industry-academia linkage projects, including interdisciplinary courses, industry expert instruction, corporate visits, and innovation competitions, strengthening students’ engagement with industry.
In 2025, NUK subsidized nine departments or units, including the Department of Applied Chemistry, Department of Information Management, Department of Architecture, Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Department of Craft and Creative Design, Department of Electrical Engineering, Department of Chemical and Materials Engineering, Department of Kinesiology, Health and Leisure Studies, and College of Law, to implement industry-academia linkage projects.
A total of 89 industry-academia activities were organized in 2025, with 4,331 participant visits. Participation exceeded the target by 97%, demonstrating the diffusion effect of integrating industry-government-academia collaboration into teaching fields.
Industry-government-academia collaboration has gradually expanded from individual research collaboration to industrial talent cultivation, regional industry linkages, sustainable technology R&D, and startup incubation.
