Identification of Key Topics and Boundaries

Identification of Key Issues and Boundaries

Based on the definition of "individuals or organizations that have a direct or indirect impact on the school", we have identified seven categories of stakeholders and collected a list of relevant sustainability issues through representatives of the school council, department head consensus camps, and internal faculty and staff seminars, and then conducted an analysis of the significance of the issues in accordance with the GRI criteria, stakeholder concern survey, and the assessment of the degree of impact on the organization by the first- and second-level administrators in the school. We also analyzed the significance of the issues, and incorporated the important development plans of the school, such as the Mid-Term School Development Plan and the Higher Education Sprout Project, as well as the opinions provided by the reviewers of the sustainability report. After many discussions, 18 key issues resolved by the Sustainable Development Promotion Committee were approved as the principles for the disclosure of information and the planning of strategies and policies for sustainable development of the school. The merger of theme will be reviewed on a yearly basis. The steps for implementation are described below:

  Collecting Sustainable Topics

After identifying the seven major categories of stakeholders, and taking into account the disclosure items of the GRI criteria published by the Global Reporting Initiative, the objectives of school development, the objectives of the Ministry of Education's higher education policy, and the feedback from school councils, department heads' consensus camps, and internal faculty and staff seminars, a list of 28 issues in four major areas have been compiled, namely, school operations, teaching and learning, and the campus environment and social inclusion.

Analysis of the significance of the topic

Conducting surveys on the level of concern of various stakeholders and evaluating the degree of impact on the organization by first- and second-level administrators on campus, and conducting an analysis of the significance of the topics, based on which a matrix of significant issues was drawn to determine the boundaries of disclosure in this report.

Identification of Key Topics

Based on the results of the materiality matrix analysis, 21 key topics have been approved by the Sustainable Development Promotion Committee as the basis for the University's sustainability information disclosure and sustainable development strategy and policy planning.

Disclosure and Response

Disclosure of sustainability information in this report and on the University's website in accordance with the GRI guidelines, and regular review and improvement of the effectiveness of the policy in response to the expectations of stakeholders.

Boundary Analysis of Key Topics

After identifying the significant topics disclosed in this report, the scope of entities from which information was collected for each significant topic was categorized as inside and outside the organization: inside the organization was NUK itself, covering students, faculty, and staff; and outside the organization was parents and community members, alumni, enterprises and non-governmental organizations (NGOs). Consider key themes: A07. Stakeholder communication as the core development spirit of the sustainability report is not a separate theme; A04.
